😔 England knocked out of World Cup vs Argentina — Millennium Square hosted a packed fanzone for the England v Argentina World Cup semi-final on Wednesday, and what a rollercoaster it was. Anthony Gordon put England ahead, but two late goals sent Argentina through to the final, leaving fans all around the country frustrated by England all over again.

🏅 Leeds Beckett to honour Hannah Cockroft CBE at summer graduation — Leeds Beckett University has announced it will award an honorary degree to nine-time Paralympic gold medallist wheelchair racer Hannah Cockroft CBE. She's one of five exceptional figures being recognised at this summer's graduation ceremonies, alongside children's presenter George Webster and former Law Society president Lubna Shuja.

⚽ Leeds United sign defender Tarik Muharemovic for £34.1m — Leeds United have completed the signing of Bosnian centre-back Tarik Muharemovic from Serie A side Sassuolo in a deal worth £34.1 million.

🦋 Moth Week! Store Tour and Workshop — Leeds Discovery Centre: A behind-the-scenes tour of Leeds Discovery Centre's museum store, timed to coincide with National Moth Week. You'll get up close to the museum's moth collection with Assistant Curator of Natural Science Amiee, exploring the hidden beauty of these often-overlooked insects. 🐝 Birds, Bees, Bats & Bugs — Kirkstall Abbey: A free nature trail around the grounds of Kirkstall Abbey, featuring crafty versions of the abbey's wildlife including pompom bees, birds, bats and butterflies dotted around the ruins. 🍵 Matcha Kyoto: Cult Manchester matcha brand Matcha Kyoto has landed in Leeds for a summer residency at Habbibi on the Victoria Gate rooftop. On the menu: cream-swirled matcha drinks, ube and strawberry flavours, and pocket Japanese sandos. Running until 12 August, it’s worth a visit while the sun's (hopefully) out.

👨‍🍳 The Smithfield: A Leeds restaurant has been included in a prestigious national list of the UK's best local restaurants, just three months after opening its doors. A great achievement that puts the city's food scene firmly in the spotlight once again.
